PM Mitra Textile Park: India's Textile Revolution Begins in Madhya Pradesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked his 75th birthday with the laying of the foundation stone for India's first PM Mitra textile park in Madhya Pradesh's Dhar district, a landmark initiative poised to significantly boost India's textile industry and regional development.

PM Mitra Textile Park: A Game Changer for Madhya Pradesh

Spanning 2,158 acres in Bhainsola village, Dhar, the PM Mitra textile park symbolizes a transformative leap in India’s ambition to become a global textile manufacturing hub. Under the government’s "5F vision"—Farm to Fibre, Fibre to Factory, Factory to Fashion, and Fashion to Foreign—the park will integrate the entire textile value chain in one location. It will facilitate everything from raw material access, quality checks, and processing to designing, manufacturing, and exports.

The park is designed to be a model industrial township, featuring advanced infrastructure such as:

  • A 20-megalitre-per-day common effluent treatment plant ensuring sustainable water management.

  • A 10-megavolt-ampere solar power plant underscoring renewable energy commitment.

  • Well-built roads and 81 plug-and-play units to support operational efficiency.

  • Housing and social facilities for workers to ensure a balanced industrial ecosystem.

Massive Investment and Employment Prospects

Leading textile companies have collectively proposed investments exceeding ₹23,000 crore, signaling strong industry confidence. The park is projected to generate around 300,000 jobs, with a special emphasis on inclusive employment by reserving 60% of these opportunities for women. This large-scale employment generation is expected to energize the local economy and uplift communities.

Strategic Location Leveraging Local Strengths

Madhya Pradesh is a significant player in cotton production, supplying nearly half of India's non-GM organic cotton and 24 percent of the global supply, covering approximately 600,000 hectares in 18 districts. The park’s strategic placement in Dhar links it to key trade and transport hubs—railways, airports, highways, and ports—making it optimally located to streamline manufacturing and distribution.

This initiative benefits nearly 600,000 cotton farmers in the region by enabling them to participate directly in the textile value chain, creating value addition opportunities from raw cotton to finished garments poised for international markets.

Broader Health and Development Milestones

Prime Minister Modi’s visit was also marked by the launch of the "Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar" campaign focused on women's health and empowerment, coinciding with the eighth National Nutrition Month. This nationwide campaign aims to conduct over 100,000 health camps across government facilities from September 17 to October 2.

Alongside health initiatives, Modi transferred ₹450 crore directly to bank accounts of almost one million women under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, reinforcing financial inclusion and empowerment. The distribution of one crore sickle cell screening cards also took place as part of a national mission combating sickle cell anemia prevalent in tribal communities.

Prime Minister Modi’s birthday celebration in Madhya Pradesh, aligning with Vishwakarma Jayanti, continues his tradition of marking key milestones with initiatives promoting economic development, social welfare, and inclusive growth.

This foundational step for the PM Mitra textile park heralds a new era for Indian textiles, promising to create jobs, empower women, uplift farmers, and establish Madhya Pradesh as a textile industry powerhouse on the global stage.
