Bihar Battle 2025: Modi's Five Ks Attack on RJD-Congress and the Fight for Cultural Pride.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent rally in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, has ignited political fervor ahead of the crucial Bihar Assembly Election 2025. Modi launched a fierce attack on the opposition alliance of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress, accusing them of embodying the “five Ks” of Bihar’s “jungle raj”: katta (country-made guns), kroorta (cruelty), katuta (resentment), kushasan (misgovernance), and corruption.

Rally Highlights and Modi’s Strong Criticism

Addressing a large crowd, Modi fiercely condemned the opposition for disrespecting Bihar’s cultural heritage by calling the revered Chhath Puja a “drama.” Modi emphasized the significance of Chhath Puja as a festival symbolizing "devotion and equality," currently gaining global recognition. The Prime Minister mentioned efforts to have Chhath recognized as a UNESCO heritage festival, contrasting it with Congress and RJD leaders’ derogatory remarks about the festival. This was a pointed rebuttal to Rahul Gandhi’s comment accusing Modi of staging a “Chhath drama” during his ceremonial dip in the Yamuna river.

Modi called the alliance between RJD and Congress “unnatural,” likening it to mixing water and oil—an alliance forged merely to “loot Bihar again.” He highlighted discord within the opposition ranks, citing reports of internal fights. The Prime Minister asserted that while the NDA government pursued cultural preservation and development, the opposition was notorious for violence and corruption.

Accusations Against the Opposition

Modi accused the RJD’s rule in Bihar of rampant lawlessness and criminality, claiming 35,000 to 40,000 kidnappings occurred during their tenure. He recalled incidents of goons looting vehicle showrooms and highlighted campaign songs that euphemistically glorify weapons like the “katta” and “dunali,” underscoring a culture of violence.

Election Context and Political Dynamics

The Bihar Assembly Election 2025, slated for October-November, will decide the fate of 243 constituencies. The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), comprising Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), and allies, is aiming to secure another term in office.

On the opposing side, the RJD, led by Tejashwi Yadav, has formed the INDIA bloc with the Congress and Left parties to challenge the NDA government. Additionally, political newcomer Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party is contesting all seats, marking a new entry into Bihar's politics.

Current strength in the Bihar Assembly is:

  • BJP: 78 MLAs

  • JD(U): 45 MLAs

  • Other NDA allies & rebels: 9 MLAs
This totals 132 MLAs, just above the majority mark of 122.

Conclusion

Prime Minister Modi’s rally strategy clearly aimed to galvanize NDA supporters by painting their opponents as agents of lawlessness and corruption, emphasizing the cultural pride of Bihar through the defense of Chhath Puja. The Bihar elections are shaping up as a fierce battle where cultural identity, governance, and security are central themes, with the NDA seeking to maintain its grip amid a strong opposition alliance and new political entrants.

This dynamic sets the stage for a closely contested and politically charged Bihar Assembly Election 2025.
