Hyderabad, August 4, 2025 – US-based pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly and Company has officially inaugurated its new Global Capability Centre (GCC) at Gachibowli, Hyderabad. This 220,000 sq ft science and innovation hub is aimed at accelerating the company’s global digital transformation, with the capacity to support innovation across the world. 

Focus Areas & Strategic Priorities

  • The Centre, called Lilly Capability Centre India (LCCI) Hyderabad, will expand the company's strengths in:

    • Artificial Intelligence (AI)

  • Designed not as mere back‑office support but as a global nerve‑centre of innovation, connecting and enhancing Eli Lilly’s worldwide operations 


Talent & Employment

  • The centre has already onboarded approximately 100 employees, with plans to grow to 1,500 professionals over the next two to three years. 

  • Target hires include technology engineers, data scientists, and other skilled professionals, highlighting Hyderabad's access to a deep talent pool. 


Hyderabad: A Life Sciences & GCC Powerhouse

  • Telangana CM Revanth Reddy described Hyderabad as a world-class GCC capital, crediting the government’s proactive policies and infrastructure development over the past 20 months. 

  • Hyderabad hosts over 2,000 life sciences and pharmaceutical companies, and contributes around 40% of India's pharmaceutical output, with 1 in 3 vaccines globally developed or manufactured here. 

  • The state is ambitiously targeting a USD 1 trillion economy by 2034, as part of the larger "Telangana Rising 2047" vision.
