A group of stocks with widespread mutual fund ownership has delivered a strong performance in the first seven-and-a-half months of calendar year 2026, highlighting the gains seen across several companies that have attracted significant institutional participation.

Data cited by ETMarkets show that 280 listed stocks were held by more than 100 mutual fund schemes as of July 2026. Among them, 113 stocks had risen by more than 10% since the beginning of the year. A smaller group of 15 stocks stood out with gains ranging from 50% to more than 130% during the period.

The data, sourced from ACE MF and ACE Equity, indicates that strong returns were not limited to a single industry. The list includes companies operating across infrastructure, electric mobility, power equipment, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, defence-related manufacturing, auto components and energy.

Power and infrastructure stocks feature prominently

Schneider Electric Infrastructure delivered a 91% gain, with its stock moving from ₹722 to ₹1,378. It was held by 103 mutual fund schemes, representing equity mutual fund holdings of ₹1,286 crore.

The strong showing from these companies adds to the broader representation of infrastructure and power-related businesses among the year's leading performers in this mutual-fund-owned group.

Healthcare and speciality businesses also gain

Acutaas Chemicals registered an 83% rise, with its stock advancing from ₹1,703 to ₹3,111. The company was held by 144 mutual fund schemes in July, with combined equity holdings of ₹3,548 crore.

Data Patterns (India) gained 73%, moving from ₹2,624 to ₹4,531. Mutual fund ownership extended across 106 schemes, which collectively held equity worth ₹2,506 crore.

Gland Pharma recorded a 72% gain, rising from ₹1,722 to ₹2,967. It had 138 mutual fund schemes holding the stock, with their equity holdings valued at ₹10,970 crore.

What the data indicates

The performance of these stocks illustrates the strength of institutional participation in selected companies during CY26. A large number of mutual fund schemes holding a stock does not guarantee future returns, but the figures show that several companies with broad institutional ownership have delivered substantial gains this year.

The wide range of sectors represented in the list also shows that the rally has extended beyond one particular theme. Investors have seen strong performances from infrastructure and power businesses as well as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, electric mobility, defence-related companies and auto-component manufacturers.

For investors, however, past price gains and mutual fund ownership are not by themselves sufficient reasons to buy a stock. Valuation, earnings, business prospects and future risks remain important factors when assessing whether a strong CY26 performer can sustain its momentum.
