Oriom Group Enters Odisha Real Estate Market With New Oriom Realty Brand
Bhubaneswar: Odisha-based diversified business group Oriom Group has expanded into the real estate sector with the launch of Oriom Realty, marking a new phase in the company’s more than two-decade business journey.
The newly established real estate arm is expected to develop a range of projects across Odisha, covering residential properties, retail spaces, commercial developments, hospitality projects and mixed-use destinations. The company said its initial attention will be directed towards Bhubaneswar and other emerging growth corridors in the state.
The move represents a significant diversification for Oriom Group, which has traditionally built its presence around industrial businesses. Headquartered in Bhubaneswar and originally established in Jharsuguda, the group has completed 21 years of operations and has interests across sectors including steel and power, speciality chemicals and refractories.
With more than 3,000 employees and several industrial facilities across eastern India, the group now plans to bring its operational experience into the property development sector through Oriom Realty.
Industrial Experience Behind Real Estate Expansion
According to the company's leadership, the decision to enter real estate is closely linked to the group's long experience in building and managing industrial assets.
Founder and Director Rajesh Agrawal described the move as a natural extension of the company's journey after more than two decades in the industrial sector. The group believes that its existing capabilities can provide a foundation for its new real estate business.
The expansion also comes at a time when Odisha's economic landscape is undergoing changes, with industrial development creating demand for supporting urban infrastructure and new communities.
Director Deepak Agrawal highlighted the relationship between industrial growth and the evolution of cities. In his view, Odisha's next phase of development could generate greater demand for modern urban environments, residential communities and high-quality commercial real estate.
This broader economic transformation is expected to influence the company's approach as it develops its property portfolio.
Focus on Bhubaneswar and Growth Corridors
Bhubaneswar will be an important starting point for Oriom Realty as the company begins its real estate operations. The state capital has emerged as a major centre for business, services, education and urban development, making it a key market for property companies.
Alongside Bhubaneswar, Oriom Realty intends to explore other growth corridors that are showing potential for future development.
The company's proposed portfolio is not limited to one segment of the property market. Instead, it plans to work across multiple categories, including homes, retail, commercial developments, hospitality and mixed-use projects.
Such a diversified approach could allow the company to participate in different aspects of Odisha's expanding urban economy rather than concentrating solely on residential housing.
Engineering and Execution Capabilities
Oriom Group's industrial background is also expected to influence the way it approaches construction and project development.
Director Anil Kedia said the company plans to utilise capabilities developed through its industrial operations, particularly its engineering expertise, financial discipline and experience in executing projects.
These strengths, according to the company, will form part of its strategy for establishing Oriom Realty in the competitive Odisha property market.
The transition from industrial operations to real estate will nevertheless represent a new business environment for the group, requiring it to address the distinct demands of property development, urban planning and customer-oriented projects.
A New Chapter for Oriom Group
The launch of Oriom Realty adds another business vertical to a group that has spent more than 20 years developing industrial interests across eastern India.
For Odisha's real estate sector, the entry of an established industrial group could add another corporate participant to a market that is being shaped by urbanisation and expanding economic activity.
The company's initial focus on Bhubaneswar and emerging growth corridors suggests that Oriom Realty intends to align its expansion with areas where economic activity and urban development are gaining momentum.
As the new vertical takes shape, its future projects will determine how effectively the group can translate its industrial experience into real estate development. For Oriom Group, however, the launch signals a clear move beyond its traditional industrial base and towards a broader role in Odisha's evolving urban economy.
